How To Do Counted Cross Stitch

I first started designing for counted cross stitch some twenty years ago. It was new to Hawaii and no one had done any tropical flower charts. No one was teaching it so I learned to design by trial and error. Some of those first charts will be available in the XS chart pack section soon. I was lucky, they were "stitchable" and worked out just fine. Beginners luck.

I discovered XS on a trip to San Francisco and as a needle pointer and used to muted soft colors I became entranced with XS because of the range of colors that were bright and clear. The advances in fabrics and techniques and embellishments over the past years has been exciting and a far cry from stitching on Aida with only embroidery floss of limited colors.

We offer a unique selection, tropical and multicultural-themed cross stitch books, with easy-to-follow directions and detailed patterns in our XS book section. The designs are classic and today's stitchers will have the opportunity to "jazz" them up, if so desired. Check your local stitchery shop for classes, new fabrics, threads and embellishments that are now available.
