HAWAIIAN QUILTING CLASSES
SHOULD I TAKE A CLASS?
Top
I think that if you have an interest in Hawaiian quilting that you should take as many classes from as many teachers as you can find. Each has something different to offer, each has a special hint or unique technique.
Plus, you will gain many quilting friends in the process.
Hawaiian quilting is taught in many places around the world. Displaced Hawaii residents, military families who have an interest or have learned Hawaiian quilting while living in Hawaii many times become a local Hawaiian quilting teacher. Many of our well known Hawaiian quilting teachers travel to teach, lecture or demonstrate at quilting events or to quilting groups that invite a guest teacher for a special class to learn to quilt...the Hawaiian way.
Some buy a quilting video and together with quilting friends teach themselves to quilt...the Hawaiian way
Thousands of quilters visit Hawaii each year and take a class from one or more of the Hawaiian quilting teachers here and go back to their home town and help their friends to learn to quilt...the Hawaiian way.
So this way of quilting, that not so long ago was rather mysterious, it's secrets available for only for a few to learn, has, with the hard work of many innovative and dedicated teachers and students, spread throughout the world (just look at our website Guest Map ).
While Hawaiian quilting keeps it's place in history and honors it's traditions, it also bends to the innovative and creative quilters who continue to experiment with new techniques which enhance and expand to peek the curiosity of many as to it's unique style of design and quilting.
HAWAIIAN QUILTING CLASSES IN HAWAII
Top
There are many fine teachers of Hawaiian quilting in Hawaii. I hope you or one of your students will add your classes and exhibits to the events calendar section of the website - it's very easy to do - so that visitors and locals alike can see where and when they can learn to quilt...the Hawaiian way.
Planning a trip to Hawaii? I always recommend picking up the tourist information at the airport and your hotel and to look through the local yellow pages for quilt and fabric shops. Too, browse the internet - do a Google search for Hawaiian Quilting Classes or Fabric Shops or Hawaii Quilt Guilds before arriving. If you've newly arrived to Hawaii, I would suggest the same.
Hawaiian quilting teachers (elsewhere) - please add your class schedule and contact information to the new Events Calendar on this website.
